Adult Adoption

An adult adoption is when someone adopts a person who is over 18 and not related to them. The person adopting must be at least 10 years older than the adult they are adopting.

Adoption Process Overview

  1. Complete questionnaire—email, over the phone or in-person.
  2. Contract and PINK Legal service fee due.
  3. Documents prepared.
  4. Documents reviewed, signed and filed with the Court—Court file fee or Fee Waiver due.
  5. Client to follow up with the court to schedule or confirm hearing date after documents are filed.
  6. Client, parent, and child/adoptee to attend hearing. Order and agreement signed at hearing.

Adoption Legal Papers

  • Adult Adoption – $1200

  • Court File fee – varies, $20 to $435
